Great to get out for the first couple of rides on the wood bike, Ive completed about 50km now over a couple of rides and im pleased to say it rides very nicely. It seems like all the time spent researching bicycle design and all the care taken in selecting suitable materials and putting it together has paid off.
As this bike was built from an aluminium framed donar bike that I had already done quite a few km on I had a good handle on how it rode before. So how does the wooden frame compare to the aluminium one, its early days but my first impressions are that its definitely got more spring and compliance in the rear, the front feels solid as and I suspect I have overbuilt the front end, It accelerates fine and seems to climb hills just fine so frame stiffness obviously isn’t a problem. All in all im very pleased with it and this bike is rapidly growing on me I’m looking forward to getting some more km on it. Certainly very nice riding something handmade and in my favourite material.
